Simplicity Of Love

Simplicity Of Love

And now these three things remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

As Christians, we can become daunted by the task of spreading the gospel and reaching people like Jesus and the disciples did. We are afraid, we don’t know what to say, we don’t know how others will react, and sometimes this can leave us doing nothing at all. We can make spreading the good news very complicated, but when we look to Jesus we can see He made it very simple.

The second commandment helps us to realize that spreading the gospel starts with one simple thing- loving our neighbor as ourselves. We don’t have to have all the right words and know exactly what to do.  We just need to start by loving each other well. This can look like many different things- maybe buying coffee for that new co-worker and starting up a conversation, offering to help your neighbor with yard work or calling up that friend you haven’t spoken to in years. These simple gestures of love can open the door to conversations about your faith, your walk with the Lord and even how others can know Jesus too. Think about how you can show love to someone today and open the door to share the good news.
