Time to Fly

Time to Fly

But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV)

Imagine a calm pond with a warm breeze.  There is a stillness in the air that provides a sense of peace.  On the pond is a small group of ducks swimming away.  They look so graceful as they swim from a distance.  You decide to walk closer to the ducks and you notice their feet paddling like crazy under the water.  This can be us sometimes.  Everything looks calm from the outside at a distance but when others get close, they can witness us paddling away.

An eagle learns to glide on the wind.  It may flap its wings in order to reach altitude, but then it just soars on the wind to carry it where it needs to go.  God calls us to be like the eagle and not the duck.  He wants us to wait on Him and His plan.  He wants us to trust that He knows what we need, when we need it, and the best way to bring it into our lives.  We can choose to paddle like crazy and not get far or we can glide on the wind resting in God’s goodness.  It’s time to fly.

Prayer: God, thank you that you have plans for me.  I will choose to wait on you.  I want a life of renewed strength as I trust in your goodness.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.
