Time To Grow

Time To Grow

God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. …so that we will grow up healthy in God, robust in love. Ephesians 4:15-16 (MSG)

For those living in Michigan, we are very aware of the seasons of life plants and trees go through. We see the flowers and trees blossom in spring and enjoy the fruit from the trees through the summer. We watch the leaves lose their color and trees drop their leaves in fall. We see what looks like deadness in the winter. But the winter is when the deep growth happens. The plants and trees go into hibernation and their roots deepen to support the new life of spring.

We are the same way. Each time we enter a winter season of life, filled with loss and struggles, God uses it to deepen our roots and relationship with him. It is a time for God to prune away the things holding us back from becoming the person he has called us to be. God’s plan for us is to learn to know him as the source of everything in our lives so we can help others grow from getting through the winter season. When we come out the other side, we once again blossom, grow and show new life, grow up healthy in God and encouraging others along the way to do the same.
