Today a Savior is Born

Today a Savior is Born

“The angel said, `Don’t be afraid!  I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone!  Today your Savior was born… He is Christ, the Lord … Give glory to God in heaven, and on earth let there be peace among the people who please God.”  Luke 2:10-11, 14 (NCV)

Jesus had the most humble of beginnings.  Not born in a hospital, but in a manger surrounded by animals.  Not given a crib to sleep in, but laid in a manger (a feeding box).  Not wrapped in blue blankets, but in pieces of cloth.  His birth was not announced in the halls of kings, but to shepherds.  This was how God’s free gift came into the world: the gift of happiness, peace, and hope.

Jesus is the most amazing gift ever given to the world.  He was harmless and non-threatening, a baby in a manger, and He changed the world forever.  Today, as we celebrate His birth, let us joyfully give thanks for the most amazing and wonderful gift ever given!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you!  You came to Earth to save us, an amazing gift beyond all we could ever deserve.  Help us today to acknowledge and accept the amazing gift of your life that you so freely give.  May we not forget the reason for Christmas is you!  Amen.
